Structures Razed in Ghost Town **PHOTO UPDATE 2/28**

More changes have come to the Ghost Town at Knott's Berry Farm. Several buildings have been removed including the Chinese laundry, barber shop and Silver Dollar Saloon. An article in the OC Register says that nothing is being changed. They quoted Jennifer Blazey, a Knott’s spokeswoman as saying "“They’ve been here forever, and it was starting to show,” Blazey said, so work started recently to spruce them up."

I hope that a full rebuild is the case with these structures. They provide a charm to the park that most of the larger theme parks (with the exception of Disney branded ones) lack.

Ghost Town won’t disappear

No, the oldest part of Knott’s Berry Farm hasn’t gone anywhere. Knott’s front office people say they’ve received calls recently from visitors concerned that parts of the Ghost Town section of the park have been torn out.

Knott’s spokeswoman Jennifer Blazey said rumors of the attraction’s demise are somewhat exaggerated.

The assay office, Silver Dollar Saloon, barber shop and Wing Lee’s Laundry are all sitting behind construction fences right now, but they’re not gone. The “peek-ins” allow visitors to peer through windows and back in time at figures depicting life as it was in the Old West.

“They’ve been here forever, and it was starting to show,” Blazey said, so work started recently to spruce them up.

Walter Knott built the Ghost Town in the early 1940s to provide entertainment for the throngs waiting to purchase a 65-cent chicken dinner at Cordelia Knott’s restaurant.

The construction barriers have prompted some visitors to call Knott’s administration and Around Disney bloggers with their concerns that the attraction was being torn down.
B
lazey said the callers all hear the same pledge: “They are not going anywhere.”

The attractions are expected to reopen in late March.
