Ice Dragon | Fire Dragon

Ice Dragon

I chose to ride Ice Dragon first because I had heard that it was the better of the two.  So, I took a seat in the back row.  Soon enough, we were dispatched and headed for the lift-hill.  The two trains did not dispatch at the same, so Fire's train slowed down on the lift hill while we caught up.

From the peak of the lift, the train travels down the signature B&M dip.  We were soon flying down Ice's first drop, which twists to the right - the opposite direction as Fire.  Like most inverted coasters, the drop is very fun and intense.

Next up, the train heads into an overbanked turn - the first on an inverted coaster.  From this point, the train enters the ride's first near-miss point: while Ice travels through a zero-g roll, Fire travels through a camelback just above.  The zero-g roll is very intense, and the duel offers an sensation that the two trains are going to collide.

Immediately following the zero-g roll is a small straightaway, which leads directly into the cobra roll.  There is minor head banging in the cobra roll, but its nothing that detracts from the ride.  Next up, the train heads into Ice's second near-miss point - two adjacent vertical loops.  The two loops are perfectly synchronized with each other, which creates an incredible foot-chopper effect.  This amazing duel is definitely my favorite part of the ride.

Coming out of the vertical loop, the train travels through a banked turn which leads into the ride's final near-miss point- the dueling corkscrews.  Although not as extreme as the previous element, the dueling corkscrews are very fun and intense.

From here, the train heads onto the final brake run, which leads into one last turn back into the station.

By itself, Ice Dragon is a great inverted coaster, and the addition of the near-miss points makes it amazing.  Overall, the ride is very intense, incredibly fun, and has excellent pacing.
